Membership Eligibility & Expectations

Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity seeks prospective new members who demonstrate academic responsibility, strong character, leadership potential, and a commitment to service. Membership is grounded in accountability, growth, and respect for the diverse Deaf ecosystem and broader communities we serve.

Academic Standing

Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students at Gallaudet University and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 throughout their membership. Members are expected to remain in good academic standing for the duration of their time in the fraternity, reflecting a commitment to personal and academic excellence.

Credit Requirements

Applicants must have completed at least 24 college credits at the time of application to ensure sufficient academic experience and readiness for fraternity involvement.

Time & Commitment

Membership in Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity requires a meaningful commitment of time and effort. Members are expected to attend all mandatory meetings, events, service hours, and required activities, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and respect for the collective brotherhood.

Character, Values, & Conduct

Prospective members must demonstrate integrity, respect, and a strong commitment to the fraternity’s mission, pillars, and values. Applicants must have no history of serious violations of Gallaudet University’s Code of Conduct or criminal laws. Members are expected to embody the fraternity’s four pillars—Presence, Influence, Amity, and Lore—in all aspects of fraternity life.

Alpha Sigma Pi values individuals who show leadership and responsibility through involvement in campus organizations, clubs, executive boards, or community initiatives. Members are expected to participate in community service activities that strengthen relationships within the Deaf ecosystem and beyond. A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow as a leader and brother is essential, as is consistent participation, punctuality, and follow-through on commitments.

Respect for diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives is central to fraternity life. Members are expected to uphold an inclusive environment that values equity, mutual support, and collaboration.

We seek prospective new members who are deeply committed to giving back through leadership, fellowship, and philanthropy, ensuring their contributions positively impact both Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity and the broader community.
